The RIPNAS Solid is now available in version 7, now with Windows 11 Pro 64 and PerfectTunes!

The HFX Audio V7 is a high-end audio server for up to 2*4TB SSD, Intel Celeron up to i9, Windows 11 Pro and support from HFX via Teamviewer.

The drive used is a robust 5.25" TEAC drive with C2 correction, which enables error-free digitisation. Despite heavy loads during digitisation (48x speed), this drive achieves a performance of over 10,000 ripped CDs. It is therefore particularly suitable if a large number of CDs are to be digitised.

The V7 has a faster CPU compared to the previous model, and is easy to upgrade to i3 to i9, easy to expand with tanks up to 120TB and easy to cascade with up to 5 drives simultaneously. The V7 is also easy to use and connect with Windows 11.

Why more power?

Players such as Roon run at 1080p and 50 frames per second including audio analysis in the background. The HFX AUDIO and Cinema models support ROON as standard. ROON combines music collections from various sources such as iTunes, Tidal and your own collection and supports a wide range of network players. Try it free of charge for 60 days pre-installed on our HFX Audio models.

High-end audio server (Asset+Roon): The best audio server currently available, the Asset UPNP server, is used. This supports all high-resolution formats, including the DSD format. DSD files are converted to PCM format on the fly so that they can be played back with any player. Native DSD playback is supported by the optionally available JRiver Media Centre. In addition, the Asset UPNP is the only one to pass on all information for classical music, such as conductor, composer, soloist and much more (full support of the Sonata database). ROON server is also pre-installed.

...

Error-free storage (SSD): Error-free storage is particularly important for high-resolution music. The AssetNAS D5 is therefore equipped with fast and error-free SSDs. The AssetNAS can also access music from external USB discs or network drives (e.g. a NAS in the basement).

...

Automatic backup: As soon as an external hard drive is connected via USB, a backup is made automatically every day. A backup can also be made to a network drive. The backed up data is stored unencrypted on the hard drive.

...

High-end player (KODI, JRiver, Roon): KODI is already pre-installed. It is operated using an app on an iOS or Android tablet or smartphone. JRiver for native DSD playback can also be installed as an option. Output can be via an analogue output or USB. More and more DACs support control via USB, where the digital data can be received unchanged by the DAC. Analogue output is also preset via the front headphone output. If a DSD-compatible DAC is connected to USB, the optionally available JRiver can play back DSD files natively. Supported audio formats: FLAC, Apple Lossless, MP3, AIFF, WAV, DSF, AAC, WMA and more.

...

DSD support: The AssetNAS optimally supports the streaming and playback of DSD files. The Asset UPNP server converts the DSD files into PCM on-the-fly, allowing all UPNP players to play them. The AssetNAS also supports editing the metadata of DSF files. If a DSD-capable USB DAC is connected, native DSD playback (without conversion to PCM) is even possible. The JRiver player on offer supports native DSD.

...

One server for all: AssetNAS is a server for all UPnP/DLNA streaming clients, Sonos, Logitech Squeezebox and many more. Every known file format is supported by the server, on-the-fly transcoding is possible.

...

Why more power?
Players such as Roon run at 1080p and 50 frames per second, including audio analysis in the background. The JRIVER also analyses the audio and pre-calculates the data for perfect playback. A lack of computing capacity during playback results in missing data and therefore a lower sound depth.

The high-end model differs from the standard model by:

>> LCD behind the acrylic glass (for progress control)
>> separate NVMe SSD for system (7x faster than standard SSD)
>> drive isolation (for noise and vibration reduction)
>> Power filter and buffer (for the smoothest possible power)
>> 2* SSD bays on the back (freely accessible for stand-alone expansions)
>> Remote control (Air mouse with integrated keyboard)

Performance is important for large collections, ROON, high-resolution music and DSD. Especially when on-the-fly conversion is required.

If the SOLID is only used for RIPPING and as a UPNP server, the Celeron with 8GB RAM is completely sufficient. If the RIPNAS is also used as a player and a DAC is connected via USB, then at least an i5 is recommended. For comparison, we list the benchmark values from Passmark for each configuration.
